Den&Angie
Den and Angie fitted and are one of the most famous tv couples theres been.They have had more that 30 million viewers tun in on christmas day just to watch leslie say "happy christmas ange" whilst handing over the devorce papers .

Den(leslie grantham) was married to Angie (played by Anita Dobson) and together they ruled the The Queen Victoria. Den was known for his love affairs and dodgy dealings. A bad husband, Den was devoted to his and Angie's adopted daughter Sharon and was quite protective of his "princess". , Den already had an off-screen mistress in 1985 when it all started, Jan Hammond and within months he had screwed the best friend of his daughter sharron getting her pregnant, Michelle Fowler. one of EastEnders most famous storylines, viewers were to guess whos the daddy . Thats where the nick name "dirty den" came from.
Angie's forgiveness for all the terrible things he'd done, and promised to be there for her. In a guilty attempt to build bridges with his 'dying' wife he took Angie to Venice for a second honeymoon. As they returned home on the Orient Express Den overheard his wife admit that she had faked her illness to stop Den from leaving her. This discovery culminated in a Christmas Day episode in which Den served divorce papers to a shocked Angie. This episode was seen by an audience of 30.15 million viewers in the UK.In 1987, the pair divorced, with Angie going to work at the Dagmar Pub. Angie vowed to get revenge on Den, vowing 'I want his blood!' and took him to the cleaners, taking everything from the Vic and putting Den in vast amounts of debt. Den split from his mistress after she accused him of treating her like Angie and began an affair with the catering manager at the Vic, Magda Czajkowski. On New Year's Eve he welcomed his ex-wife back to the Queen Victoria where they agreed to start again, working purely as business partners.



Leslie Grantham Biography

Leslie Grantham was born on 30th April 1947 in Camberwell. He has acted and presented in many programs, and also tried his hand in theatre with success. He is most famous for playing 'Dirty' Den Watts in Eastenders, uttering the shows first line 'Stinks in ere' way back in 1985. He left the show in 1989 after being killed off, but returned from the dead in September 2003, he was killed off again in February 2005, this time for good, although Im hoping he'll return again. Hes INDESTRUCTIBLE!!! Den was killed off in 2005 after Leslie was caught sending perverted internet messages from his dressing room. More on this below. After leaving Eastenders again, Leslie has made appreances on many chat shows, and has plans to produce and star in a new program. Leslie is married to actress Jane Laurie and they have three sons. They live in a £650000 house in London, however Leslie also spent time in a flat on his own last year after the scandals. He and his wife have since reconciled.

In 1966, aged 19, while doing his National Service, Leslie killed a taxi driver in Germany, he was sentenced to 11 years in jail. Even though producers knew about this when Leslie was hired for Eastenders, they knew he had paid for what he had done and it was in the past. Managment, cast members and the general public forgave Leslie and were entertained by him playing Den on tv because Den was such a great character (dare say the BEST eastenders ever had) and Leslie was a great actor.

'Dirty' Den Watts

When Eastenders started, Den, along with wife Angie and adopted daughter Sharon were running the local pub 'The Vic'. Den also had a mistress named Jan, whom Angie knew about.

Den and Angie were a classic Eastend couple, always fighting and slapping each other. Angie was very depressed about the way Den treated her and tried finding answers at the bottom of a bottle...oh yes..she took pub stock checking a bit to seriously!! Over two years, Angie would take an overdose to try and kill herself, but doctors managed to save her, or so Den thought. Angie made up she had 6 months to live, and with this she was treated to a second honeymoon in Venice.

While on the honeymoon, Angie got drunk and revealed to the barman that she was playing Den for a fool, she was going to be fine she revealed. She did not reliase Den was sitting right behind her and heard all this. Back in Walford, on Christmas Day 1986, Den served angie with divorce papers. It was the most watched episode of Eastenders in history. Dens speech is legendary. "6 months to live, six tragic little months then poor old Angie is gonna clog off. That, has got to be the sickest joke you've ever played, and Den Watts fell for it, well now the jokes on you Ang, this my sweet, is a letter from my silister, saying your husband has filed for divorce, it also advises you to get yourself a lawyer pretty damn quick! Happy Christmas Ang!'
